Interactive 1 focuses both on learning the technical foundations of designing for the web, as well as on the conceptual and historical context of the web as a platform.
Running from Jan 22 to May 11, Mondays and Thursdays, 3:30 – 6p.
This course was developed in collaboration with chris hamamoto and Mathew Kneebone. It draws on curriculums developed by Laurel Schwulst, Mindy Seu, Federico PΓ©rez Villoro, Clement Valla, Minkyoung Kim, and E Roon Kang, and past versions of the Interactive Classes at CCA GD.

For March 10, Monday
Complete Project 2 Step 2.
Complete 3 sketches of an interface showcasing your chosen interaction, at least one affirming the interaction, and one subverting it. In your sketches, consider how the site will react to the user interacting with it first and foremost.
Also complete Codecademy Introduction to Javascript: Variables and Codecademy Introduction to Javascript: Conditionals. Email me a screen shot of Syllabus Panel with all the steps complete for both.
March 10, Monday
- Review Sketches of interaction showcases.
- Begin working on hi fidelity designs for our showcase.
- Demos of things that are in people's sketches.
For March 12, Thusday
- Complete Project 2 Step 3, design two different visual directions for your interaction showcase (in Figma, Sketch, Indesign, whatever. These designs should be hi fidelity, we'll review them in small groups on Thursday.
- Complete Codecademy Introduction to Javascript: Functions. Email me a screen shot of Syllabus Panel with all the steps complete.
